Since the beginning of time, humans have been obsessed with labels. It makes it easier to put people in a box and label them in a category. Oftentimes, some group of people don’t fit neatly into one category or they belong to two categories that seem to contrast on first glance. One of such is Christian feminists – believers of Christ who strongly believe that women deserve equal rights as men. Some Christians don’t subscribe to feminism and some feminists abhor Christianity.
Here are some people from both sides who believe both can’t meet in the middle
What #boity said is true. You can't be a feminist and a Christian at the same time. pic.twitter.com/652AvTljhJ

And this is also why I dislike conversations about ‘can you be a Christian and a feminist’ There’s no reason why we should focus our energies on validating your christian identity when your religion is literally killing and oppressing women??

You can't be a Christian and a feminist in the same breath. It's literally not possible.

Nobody will take you serious. You double as a feminist and a Christian 🤡

But there are others who believe that both identities complement each other perfectly well.

I was having a conversation with someone yesterday and he told me a person can't be a Feminist and a Christian because the Bible said women should submit.
Me:- So Bible says women submit and men love? Does it mean that women have no business loving? Only submission?

Friendly reminder that people can be whoever the fuck they want to be. If they want to be queer, they can. If they want to be queer+Christian, they can too. If they want to be feminist+Christian/muslim, they can too

The number one pushback I get with my work is: How can you be a Christian & a feminist?
The anti-feminist crowd sees co-existence as a form of heresy
The anti-Christian crowd sees co-existence as an impossibility
I happily sit in the middle and say co-existence is essential

To get a solid answer to the issue that has birthed this debate, it’ll be essential to go to the foundations of Christianity; How did Jesus treat women? What roles did women play in the ministry? What would Jesus do if a woman missed out on opportunities because of her gender?
